Talk about a niche of a niche of a niche!
If you’re a bear who makes films for, by or about bears, listen up. There’s a film festival just for you in Vermont. The VT Bear Film Festival unspools August 17-18. It’s held on private property at the home of, John Scagliotti, the program director, off an old country road just over the Massachusetts line in Guilford, Vermont, with acres of secluded fields and woods. According to Scagliotti, “The Vermont Bear Film Festival is an independent film festival, devoted to bears and bear admirers. Held in the green hills of southern Vermont, it is an occasion for guys to eat, drink, and be merry…and see some great films too.”

With Beachbear Weekend scheduled for May 10-14, 2012, Ft. Lauderdale will become a hirsute center of fun for big, friendly, muscle-y guys and their admirers.
Already boasting one of the largest populations of muscle bears along the east coast, Ft. Lauderdale will positively bulge with bears, cubs, otters and others waking from their hibernation and seeking sun and surf. The Courtyard by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Beach, located a block away from the city’s gay beach at Sebastian Street, will host this event and become the undisputed bear capital in the east for the second weekend in May.

BeachBear Weekend has been created to showcase the healthy outdoor lifestyle enjoyed in Greater Fort Lauderdale. The events over the course of the week will focus on the beach, surf, exercise, and of course some of the hottest parties anywhere. Proceeds from this event will benefit Sunserve… whose mission is to provide critical life assistance and professional mental health services with an emphasis on the economically disadvantaged, marginalized youths, and senior adults in Greater Fort Lauderdale.

Move over Buckingham Palace, Britain is promoting a slew of unusual attractions and events targeting gay bears and their admirers. From a press release by VisitBritain, the nation’s official tourism authority, ” Hirsute and cuddly critters of all ages will find a wealth of holiday experiences to satisfy their particular appetites, alongside the traditional appeals of historic attractions, contemporary culture and chocolate-box landscapes.”
Britain is shining a spotlight on Tonker, a bear bar, The Hoist, a bear fetish club, as well as a bear-popular park (Hampstead Heath) and XXL Bear Pride, taking place May 27-31.
