Hi Ed – Hey I was wondering if you had any great ideas for a group of 10 guys to go to dinner in Manhattan / NY,NY in May 2014? My partner and I are getting married and I want to take our eight guest that are traveling with us to dinner and drinks. We are traveling from STL, MO to New York for the wedding so kind of on a budget as we are hosting a large reception when we get home. Any thoughts for fun/nice/reasonably priced and good food and drinks for about $100 a person? My partner and I would appreciate any advice and I hear you give good advice!!!! Thanks David

Hey, Edsalvato. In April, I would like to go to the island of Madeira in Funchal. Where is the gay area in Funchal? What a gay hotel is better to choose? Where is a good gay cruising? I need also gay Gym. I would like to find a friend there. Thank you. I’ll wait for the answer with impatience. Sergey.

Hello, thank you for your question. I don’t have any experience in Madera. But I recently met a woman from there who runs a hotel. Let me run this question by her. And I’ll get back to you sooner she gets back to me. OK?

My friends at the Belmond Reid’s Palace in Fuchal are checking their sources and should have answers in the next few days. Meantime, check out their fabulous hotel: Belmond Reid’s Palace. Maybe worth a stay or a meal. They are very gay friendly.

Here are my findings about the gay life in Madeira. Please let me know if you have further questions and let me know if you go and what YOU find.

Happy travels,
Ed

What they informed is that the gay community is actually much larger than it at first may seem. There are no specific gay and lesbian bars or clubs although the most of the larger nightclubs and mainstream bars are very mixed and gay friendly, specially: Cafe do Teatro, Trap, Old Town Bar and Marginal.

In terms of Hotels, Estalagem da Ponta do Sol is very gay friendly, as well as The Vine in Funchal.

Regarding restaurants and gyms, again there are no dedicated 100% gay, however most of them are gay friendly.
