We recently covered Berlin Pride (Christopher Street Day) and Folsom (below) but there are a lot more gay reasons to put Berlin on your travel radar this summer from exhibitions and street festivals to a queer night at the zoo.

EXHIBITIONS
 “Homosexuality_ies” on History of Homosexuality
June 26 until December 1, 2015

In cooperation with Berlin’s Gay Museum (Schwules Museum), the German National History Museum is planning interdisciplinary exhibitions in both museums on gay history, politics, culture and art. The culture-historical exhibition aims to contribute to a social recognition which goes beyond tolerance. It will show what political contributions the homosexual emancipation movement has made toward the development of a democratic civil society in which everyone is accorded equal rights and equal opportunities.www.dhm.de/en/ausstellungen/preview/homosexuality-ies.html

Gay Museum: New Location and Changing Exhibitions
Reopening June 25

Since its founding in 1985, Berlin’s Schwules Museum (Gay Museum) has grown into one of the world’s  largest and most significant institutions for archiving, researching and communicating the history and culture of LGBTIQ communities. At its new location in a converted former printing house, the museum features four exhibition spaces and a café. Exhibition highlights in 2015 include a look at Berlin’s former – and openly gay – mayor, And that’s a good thing – 13 Years of Klaus Wowereit As Mayor Of Berlin (until  17 May 2015) and Homosexuality_ies, the double exhibition in cooperation with the German Historical Museum. Run, Don’t Walk, To Tel Aviv Gay Pride

17 04 2015

israel 2Update, April 17, 2015: This post was published 2 years ago and updated today. Tel Aviv Pride week kicks off this year June 7, 2015 with the big day on Friday, June 12, 2015. For more information about activities, click here. To plan a trip, visit the website of our correspondent (and inbound tour operator specializing in Israel), OutStandingTravel.com

Tel Aviv has come into its own in recent year with a gay scene as large as many similar size cities in North America and, depending on your tastes, with some of the hottest guys in the world. Exhibit A is the irresistibly hot Ori Avrahami, pictured above and below, the muscular cover model for F.O.D’s 2013 Pride issue. L

We sent a writer to Pride and produced our own Tel Aviv guide. Get an all-access subscription or purchase our Tel Aviv issue for a roundup of Pride activities as well as recommendations for where to stay, eat, play/meet and more.

Additionally blessed with a terrific beach, really nice weather, great food and proximity to popular Middle East attractions from religious sites in Jerusalem and the Dead Sea to Petra and more, Tel Aviv is well worth a visit. We love it during Gay Pride when all the boys come out to play from throughout the region. Tel Aviv Gay Pride is Friday June 15 but there are events throughout the week leading up to Pride. And now another look at this hot Israeli model:

5 Things You Can’t Miss In Palm Springs, California

16 04 2015

palmsprings

Palm Springs’ heyday may have begun with the early movie and TV stars, but the town’s gay renaissance began in the ‘80s, when gay Angelenos started buying the mid-century modern homes in a then seedy downtown. Today, Palm Springs is a stylish and popular weekend getaway from September through May, and never more glorious than it is right now. When LA is a “chilly” 68-70° in the winter and spring, Angelenos head to sunny Palm Springs for warm swimming pool weather. It’s a popular gay destination, but it’s a relatively small city, with a population of under 50,000 residents. The few gay bars and clubs it has are often deserted midweek, even in season, and when the temperature soars in the summer, the town really slows down. Read the rest of this entry »

Out In The Vineyard Gays Up Wine Tasting Weekend

20 04 2014

hot redFor five years Out in the Vineyard‘s “three days of gay” is developing into quite the homo version of wine country’s traditional barrel tasting weekends, wine roads and Napa Valley Auction all rolled into one — but with better music and cruising. In the words of the event co-founder and ManAboutWorld Global Correspondent, Mark Vogler:

None of the straight wine country weekends include pool parties and COLT models! This year Gay Wine Weekend is going all ginger, as sponsor COLT Studio Group is bringing with them the exceedingly charming and smoking hot COLT MAN Seth Fornea — pictured above with Jared Le Blanc. Seth and Jared will be spending Father’s Day Weekend with  us wine loving gay boys and girls, wine tasting and dancing amongst the vines during the weekend’s signature event and AIDS Fundraiser, Twilight T Dance, at the over-the-top-cool Raymond Vineyards.

wineThere are 18 separate events going on over the weekend and 30 participating boutique, mainstream and luxury wineries, including Lasseter Family Winery, La Crema, Raymond Vineyards and the hot-boys-owned-millennial-hot-spot in Sonoma, Envolve Winery. So pop your cork and get to Gay Wine Weekend. Cheers! Details and full list of eventsGayWineWeekend.com.
